Specialties

​Specialty programs require a minimum of two (2) dives when in-water training dives are needed. Some specialty programs require additional pool/confined water sessions and/or open water training dives.

Specialty programs can be combined, provided that all theoretical, pool/confined water, and open water training requirements of all the Specialty programs chosen are completed.

Upon completion of all requirements, the program's digital certification card is issued.

Navigation 240€

The SSI Navigation program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate safely using natural navigation and compass techniques.

  • Complete all academic sessions

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete at least two (2) open water training dives

Deep Diving 260€

The SSI Deep Diving program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely conduct open water dives to depths between 18 and 40 meters.

  • Complete all academic sessions

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete at least two (3) open water training dives

Night & Limited Visibility 260€

The SSI Night & Limited Visibility program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and comfortably dive at night or in limited visibility conditions.

  • Complete all academic sessions

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete at least two (2) open water training dives

Wreck Diving 220€

The SSI Wreck Diving program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely conduct non-penetration dives around wrecks and artificial reefs.

  • Complete all academic sessions

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete at least two (2) open water training dives

Perfect Buoyancy 200€

The SSI Perfect Buoyancy program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to improve their diving position and buoyancy control, and to safely minimize their breathing gas consumption.

  • Complete all academic sessions

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete at least two (2) open water training dives

Boat Diving 150€

The SSI Boat Diving program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely conduct open water dives from a variety of boats, including small personal craft and liveaboards.

  • Complete all academic sessions

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete at least two (2) open water training dives

Waves, Tides & Currents 200€

The SSI Waves, Tides & Currents program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to safely dive in a variety of dynamic open water environments.

  • Complete all academic sessions

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete at least two (2) open water training dives

Diver Stress & Rescue 400€

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to identify stress, prevent incidents, and manage common emergency situations encountered by recreational divers.

  • Complete all academic sessions 

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • Complete pool/confined water sessions 

  • Complete at least three (3) open water training dives 

  • Provide proof of training in O2 Administration, First Aid, and updated CPR within less than two (2) years before the issuance of the certification card.

 

Specialties that do not require diving​​​​​

Enriched Air Nitrox 200/260€

The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox programs provide students with basic knowledge and skills needed to safely dive using breathing gas with enriched gas mixtures.

  • Complete Academic Sessions 1-3.

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

  • The 260€ option includes 1 nitrox dive.

Science of Diving 150€

The SSI Science of Diving program provides students with an in-depth study of diving physics, diving physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment, and diving equipment.

  • Complete all academic sessions.

  • Complete the program’s final exam.

React Right 200€

The SSI React Right program provides students with the knowledge and training to act as a first responder and provide first aid and CPR, administer oxygen and/or provide Automated External Defibrillator (AED) support in a medical emergency.

Each portion of the React Right program (First Aid and CPR, Oxygen Provider, and AED Provider) may be taught individually or in any combination of the three sections.

  • Complete academic and practical training scenarios 

  • Complete a React Right final exam 

 

SSI React Right certification qualifies the holder to act as a first responder in medical emergencies similar to their training for a period of two years after the certification is issued.

Certified React Right divers may use the React Right certification to fulfill the prerequisites for the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification, and all SSI professional training programs.
